"Stand and fight. Fall and rise. Roll and submit them: We rule the ground," Chad Newhide 6th Dan
As a student under Shihan Chad Newhide for ten years, I wanted to share the story of the person behind our academy's success. Shihan Chad Newhide is a well-spoken, highly educated, and multifaceted professional who has conducted research and taught in the fields of electronic/software engineering and medical genetics. Of West Asian and North African descent, Shihan Newhide is a premier professional martial artist based in North America. He holds an internationally certified, Japan-licensed Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) and is the recipient of multiple prestigious academic recognitions and awards. Beyond his technical and athletic expertise, he possesses a natural gift for mentorship, guiding students of all ages to achieve their highest potential in martial arts, academics, and professional careers. Tracing his authentic lineage directly back to grandmasters Masutatsu Oyama and Gogen Yamaguchi, Shihan Newhide is internationally ranked and recognized by the world's most reputable full-contact and self-defense organizations.
His martial arts journey began at age six, training in traditional Japanese Jujitsu and Kyokushin Budo Karate-Do. Shihan Newhide was privileged to study under numerous legendary masters, gaining deep experience and knowledge in both Okinawan and Japanese martial arts systems. These global influences allowed him to train, compete, and teach across North America, Europe, and Asia. Instructed by traditional Okinawan, Japanese, European, and South American masters, he absorbed not only their physical techniques but also the core values, wisdom, and heritage of their respective cultures. Over the years, he has forged meaningful connections, trained with, and become certified alongside prominent international martial arts figures, Kanamura Seiji Soshi 9th Dan and Suleiman Hussein Hanshi 9th Dan. Soshi Seiji Kanamura 9th Dan and Hanshi Hussein Suleiman 9th Dan are Shihan Newhide 6th Dan teachers from Kuwait and the united states.
He later expanded his foundational training in Japanese Jiujitsu and Kyokushin Karate by cross-training in Judo, absorbing its core grappling concepts. Today, he holds advanced Black Belts and certified diplomas in both Japanese Jujitsu and Kyokushin Karate. Committed to continuous growth, Shihan Newhide regularly cross-trains and exchanges technical concepts with fellow professional martial artists globally. He also specializes in traditional Okinawan weaponry, specifically the Bo and Tonfa. Driven by his diverse background, he developed a unique personal fighting style for competition that seamlessly integrates the grappling mechanics of Jujitsu with the striking power of Kyokushin.
An accomplished professional fighter, Shihan Newhide leverages exceptional strength, natural instincts, and a highly versatile technical repertoire. His elite striking and grappling abilities have propelled him to numerous victories in both full-contact stand-up and ground fighting competitions. Known for his devastating speed, physical power, and exceptional tactical dominance, he earned the moniker "The Machine" for his ability to systematically control his opponents during kumite.
